Pediatricians, MRIs, and Neurologists, Oh My!

This will be quick- I’m feeling too exhausted to write very many intelligible sentences.

Our oldest son, Ian, needed another physical this summer so he could play soccer again with the local Christian high school. I brought him in yesterday.

He has had a couple issues lately that I brought up with the pediatrician. Some shakiness and loss of coordination. His first thoughts were something like electrolyte imbalance. He ordered bloodwork and said we may want to follow up with a neurologist sometime soon.

He started to do some preliminary neuro testing, and soon changed his recommendation to “we should definitely have him see a neurologist”. A few more simple tests and the next thing we knew, we were being sent directly to radiology for a series of MRIs. He had the brain and cervical spine scanned yesterday, and he needs to go back in to have his thoracic and lumbar spine areas scanned today.

The pediatrician talked to the neurologist, who worked us into her schedule next week. I’m guessing we won’t know anything until that appointment.

In the meantime, we are trying not to worry and trying to stay busy (which is actually pretty easy around here!)

Lifting you all up in these days… And I meant it when I offered to bring over a meal or a hug. You just let me know.
