Check out our basement set-up in our new video as Hope and Mercy get some practice in before heading out to a local tournament! (All other children were safely upstairs!!)
So, we’ve spent the previous 4 years shooting with a local public school’s NASP® archery team. Due to some sports politics that I don’t need to go into detail about here, that isn’t the case this year. {insert sad face} The kids are still shooting in a few local tournaments, and they’re registered to shoot both regions and state this spring, but this year they’re shooting as individual homeschoolers. I’m thankful that they still get to participate, that NASP® rules do allow homeschooled archers, but we are missing the team camaraderie this year…
On a positive note, we’ve met some great people along the way, and the kids have made some great friends through archery. It’s been amazing to be involved in something that they can all do together!
Our family has loved our time shooting in the NASP® program so much, and our kids have done really well! Several of them have been on podium at the State tournament, advancing to Nationals, and placing high enough to advance to Worlds, multiple times, which has meant several road trips packed with great memories! (Louisville, Nashville, Myrtle Beach, and Orlando!)
The kids have branched out and begun shooting other compound bows set up with sights & stabilizers and using release aids, and have been participating in a local JOAD program for the last couple years. We’re even involved in helping a brand new JOAD program start up in a nearby town, which has been loads of fun so far!
But NASP® archery will always be our first archery love.
Join us, in this video, as we get a little in-home-range practice before a local tournament. We hope you enjoy it!
